How To Clean Gravel Driveway With Vacuum/blower

  1. Hi

I noticed several discussions about gravel driveways hither - so hoping someone tin aid ...

We're thinking of changing our erstwhile tarmac driveway at the side of the business firm to one with plum slate gravel.
Our 1 concern is cleaning it. We get a lot of wet leaves and berries dropping on the tarmac, how do people  bargain with that on the gravel?

    Cheers

ps Information technology's not strictly speaking a driveway as we don't bulldoze on it!

  2. http://www.screwfix.com/p/k-broom-caput-bracket-13/69292 i prefer this method over any electric blower organisation, also if every bit you say the leaves are generally wet yous will find the blower useless.
  3. the vacuum works superbly, even on wet leaves
  4. Thanks for your suggestions.

@Sean_ork: And then you're proverb with the blower set on vacuum/suck? Is there no danger of picking up the slate besides?

@surfemick: For the broom, I similar the thought, but wouldn't it but sweep the slate up along with the leaves and berries. Or is information technology ok if you sweep lightly?

  5. it'south piece of cake to keep the vac inlet a few inches above the ground so but leaves and very light items become sucked up - it even has a neck strap designed to make holding it easy

forget brushing, that's but light-headed unless information technology'south on a solid substrate

  6. Thank you Sean_ork.  Sounds skillful.

  7. Pleased to hear you lot won't be driving on it, JMont, 'cos that would grind it down into small pieces over time.

Plum slate is lovely-looking stuff, especially when moisture.

Y'all demand a sucker, as Sean says. I don't know if that Bosch has an variable speed, but that would solve your potential sucking-up-t'slate-pieces problem. But ready the power to pick up the leaves, and exit the slate. Chore's a jobbie.

I personally wouldn't bother trying to practise it when the leaves are wet - salve yourself a lot of hassle and wait until they're dry.

Trying to command what you selection upward by varying how far the nozzle is from the ground will, I think, lead to problems. Like oestrus and sound and stuff, the sucking forcefulness will vary in an 'exponential-blazon' style, so if you move the nozzle just a wee tad closer, it'southward sucking volition increase a big corporeality. And you'll exist spitting out slate peices.

So, all-time to employ a automobile with a nozzle which has a bicycle at the finish so'south it controls the sucking distance for you, and keeps it adequately constant. Then simply conform the sucky power to adjust.

(These wheel expect tiny, but they kind of work fifty-fifty on gravel...)

  8. I'thousand impressed that you've managed to use the word ''exponential'' in a thread about immigration a drive ;)
  9. well done Sean, im impressed with your comprehensive respond.
  10. Tsk, nosotros will not have peeps being patronised on this forum, ta very much.

Unless it's me wot'due south doing it...

  11. just beingness supportive DA,
  12. Anyone idea how precipitous slate chippings are?  I reckon the OP will exist visiting his local tyre depot adequately regularly. ;)
  13. ''ps It's not strictly speaking a driveway equally we don't drive on it! ''
  14. Ahh, so information technology'south not a driveway. and then. ;)
  15. It used to be a driveway - rather a wide path!

Cheers to all for your input

  16. No existent risk to tyres from this kind of thick and 'soft' slate. The only damage will be to the slate itself...

Information technology would become broken and ground down by vehicular traffic over time.

  17. my thoughts exaclty DA, their choice i estimate.
  18. These thick 'plum' slate pieces was one of the materials I was considering myself for our driveway - it does expect yummy espec when wet. But the supplier warned me against it if used for vehicular traffic 'cos it would pause downwards over fourth dimension.

Welsh green granite chippings instead - which is ok...
